Cafe Bedda For Mother’s Day
It was Mother’s Day yesterday so Happy Mother’s Day to all mums out there!
I was asked what I wanted to do for Mother’s Day and I decided that I wanted to go out. Now, I never eat out on these days…never on Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day etc as generally you are being served rubbish and pay triple the price. I made an exception this time around as the cafe I wanted to go to is owned by my partner’s cousin and I know the food is good and that we will be looked after.
Cafe Bedda is a great little cafe/restaurant that serves up authentic Sicilian food. It’s small and lively and is situated in the Northern Melbourne suburb of Northcote. The winter menu has just been released so it’s a great time to eat some tasty comfort food.
We began with a selection of entrees: scallops with zucchini relish, pork and fennel sausages and eggplant and parmesan parmigiana. We followed this with a wonderful capricciosa pizza, Pasta di Rodia – Small ring shaped pasta tossed with fresh prawns, pancetta, cherry tomatoes & pistachio, Braciole di Maiale – Grilled pork chops, layered with prosciutto, served on a bed of red cabbage & drizzled with a salsa verde dressing, and ended with Canoli alla Siciliana – Pastry cigar filled with sweetened ricotta, chocolate, sultanas & lemon zest and a Nutella filled Calzone with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
I always post what I have been cooking but today I’m posting what we enjoyed for dinner last night. It was a lovely evening spent with my gorgeous daughter and my very handsome man!
